Using a mobile device to gain access to different buildings is not only about solving a particular problem, it's also about doing things better. In the era of mobility and cloud computing, companies are increasingly concerned about the security and protection of their physical environment. Correctly implemented, mobile access has the potential to revolutionize the way we gain entry to doors, gates, networks and more.

H.265 (also known as High Efficiency Video Coding, or HEVC) was jointly developed by
the ITU-T Video Coding Experts Group and the ISO/IEC Moving Pictures Experts Group,
the same groups that worked together on the H.264 (or Advanced Video Coding, AVC)
video compression standard. H.264 has been a very popular and successful compression
standard in several markets including security; it was used as the coding and playback
engine in video applications including QuickTime, Vimeo, YouTube, and Blu-ray disc
players, as well as a wide range of digital security cameras, transmission, and recording
devices.
Based on broad feedback from industry-‐leading access control OEMs, integrators, consultants and end-‐user organizations who have deployed wireless locks, this paper explores the long-‐term TCO concerns associated with deploying wireless locks versus the potential short term cost benefits they may offer.

Wireless device proliferation in the enterprise sector has accelerated thanks to key trends including the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) mobility deployment phenomenon. This, coupled with migration to new gigabit and multi-gigabit Wi-Fi standards such as IEEE 802.11n and IEEE 802.11ac, is increasing the challenges associated with powering a rapidly growing array of WLAN access points with various reach and performance capabilities. The solution is to take advantage of higher power delivery of the IEEE 802.3at Power over Ethernet (PoE) standard where needed, and use midspan technology to enable more flexible WLAN AP positioning while enhancing infrastructure scalability and delivering important networkwide power management capabilities.
